Abstract

Breast cancer is the most malignant cancer in women around the globe. With the advent of diagnostic tools and novel methods of therapy, the mortality rate is now under control and the number of breast cancer survivors has improved. But unfortunately, the local therapies cause serious after effects like persistent pain in the breast area, arm and shoulder, lymphedema and restrictions of arm and shoulder movement. It can also cause psychological and social problems.Unfortunately, little attention has been paid to late effects of breast cancer that can persist for several years. This not only has diminished the quality of life of patients but also have increased the cost of life.  In this article, we focus on the management of breast cancer and the focal problems associated with the same. Also we discuss about the need for rehabilitation and the type of rehabilitation techniques.
